Organisers of this weekend's USA Cross Country Championships believe they can win the battle to ensure the course is ready after the blizzard which struck New York on Sunday. The race venue in Van Cortland Park was covered after 27 inches of snow - the worst since records began in 1869 - fell in the Big Apple. Now a Herculean effort is being made to ensure the championships incorporating the US trials for the World Cross Country Championships in April, is safe to compete over.
