Inline Skaters again on Saturday at the real,- BERLIN MARATHON - Start: 10 a.m.
The double start: skating on Saturday and running on Sunday!
2004-07-27
The real,- BERLIN MARATHON will remain a two-day event again this year. The 31st edition of Germany’s most spectacular race will take place on September 25th and 26th.After discussions with the Berlin Senates for City Planning, and Education, Youth and Sport, as well as with the police and the association of retailers, it is now set that the inline skaters will have their own race for the second time (after the premiere in 2003) on Saturday.
“We are pleased, after discussions with the authorities and
institutions, that we have managed to organise to have the inline skating race
on Saturday, as we did last year. Berlin thus proves its role as a pioneer in
this sport, which deserves to be presented in this manner. After the success in
2003, we have convinced both the spectators and the experts. The real,-
BERLIN MARATHON is thus a worldwide trendsetter“, explained Mark Milde,
Race Director, responsible for the organisation of the inline
skating.
With over 200,000 spectators and a worldwide record number of
participants (9,612 skaters), the real,- BERLIN MARATHON 2003 also gained
international acclaim.
Different than last year, however, this year the real,- BERLIN MARATHON of the
inline skaters will take place in the morning rather than in the afternoon. The
starting time has been set at 10 a.m. on September 25. Start and finish remain
the boulevard Straße des 17. Juni and the Brandenburg Gate.

The double start: skating on Saturday and running on
Sunday!
Now that the inline skating race will take place earlier at 10 a.m., we have
been receiving inquiries whether it is possible to attempt a double start at
the real,- BERLIN MARATHON –meaning skating on Saturday and running on
Sunday.
We took up this idea: for those of you who are looking for an unusual challenge
we have put together a special offer. For a reduced organisational fee of 35
Euro, you can register for the ”other“ discipline and attempt a
double start. A special downloadable form is available at:
www.real-berlin-marathon.com/formulare/2004BM_doppelstart.pdf
Registration itself is only possible by mail.
We are curious to see how many of you will take this challenge. Of course there will be a separate ranking in the list of results for double starters.
