IAAF.org: Radcliffe back on track

Radcliffe has been sorely missed in UK track meetings

2004-05-16

Paul Radcliffe will end a two-year absence from British track action at the Norwich Union British Grand Prix in Gateshead next month.

The sports biggest star has not raced a track meeting in her home country since the 2002 Commonwealth Games, but will begin her countdown to this years Olympic Games with a 10,000m on 27 June at the IAAF Super Grand Prix meeting. Radcliffe is Britains best hope of a medal at the Athens games, and her presence in the North East will make the Gateshead date the must-see meeting of the summer.

Radcliffe said: "Its been a long time since I raced on the track in the UK and I have really missed it. Gateshead will be a welcome return.

"I am really looking forward to running there, the support from the crowds in the North East is always great so I hope people turn out in force."

Radcliffe has been sorely missed in UK track meetings since winning the Commonwealth 5000m gold medal in Manchester.
