Mark Milde is the new Race Director at SCC RUNNING

Horst Milde moves to the Board of Directors; Rüdiger Otto is the new Managing Director

The position of the Race Director at SCC RUNNING will stay in the family: starting immediately, Mark Milde takes over the position from his father, Horst. The 65-year-old Horst Milde, who organised and developed the SCC RUNNING races for over 40 years and, most of all, led the real,- BERLIN MARATHON and the Bewag BERLINER HALF MARATHON to be one of the top elite street races in the world, will take his spot in the Board of Directors of the SCC RUNNING Events GmbH. Rüdiger Otto will replace Horst Milde as the Managing Director of SCC RUNNING, a position that Horst had held for many years.

Under the new leadership, the existing team will continue their dedicated work for SCC RUNNING. Next to Mark Milde, the business leadership will remain in the hands of Christian Jost, while Lutz Derkow continues to be the technical director. The area of medical services will continue to play an important role, still organised by Dr. Willi Heepe and Jürgen Lock. While Dr. Willi Heepe is a member of the Board of Directors, Jürgen Lock will be increasing his activity within SCC RUNNING.

Next to Horst Milde and Dr. Willi Heepe, the new Board of Directors will include Manfred von Richthofen (President of the German Sport Association), Joachim Krannich (Department of the Ministry), Günter Freye (entrepreneur), Michael Bärlein (lawyer) and Dr. Klaus Henk (President of SCC Berlin).

"It was important for me that the personnel structure and the family of volunteers, won for our team over the course of decades from all areas of Berlins general population and clubs, remains intact, with whom we will have no difficulty to continue our nationally unique path of success. With my son at the head, and numerous competent colleagues who have been active in the event organisation with me throughout the years, I am very optimistic regarding the future developments. It is thus the right time for me to slow down a little bit. Of course, I will still be available to the team for consultation," explains Horst Milde.

"I am looking forward to this new task, which is a great challenge, too, of course. It is my goal to continue and further develop the successful work of my father,“ says Mark Milde.

"We are striving for the continuation of the exceptional success of Horst Milde. And we want to further improve the position of the real,- BERLIN-MARATHON, which already belongs to the small group of the largest and best marathon races in the world“ says Rüdiger Otto.
