2003-12-05
For the first time in the fabulous history of the BERLIN MARATHON, an official illustrated book about the 30th real,- BERLIN MARATHON 2003 has been published. On 150 pages, more than 500 impressive photos by the international team of photographers share the impressions of the race as has never been done in this form before. The publishers Jürgen Waellnitz and Norbert Wilhelmi (www.event-buch.de) created the book with the intention of documenting the entire event with all of its facets for the athletes, runners, inline skaters, and those simply interested in the marathon. The athletes especially do not always catch all that is going on on the periphery of the course.“ It was our goal to do that with really good photos,“ said the publishers. This meant not only the athletes, but also the historical highlights of Berlin along the course.
Horst Milde, Race Director of the organisational team from SCC-RUNNING was very pleased: "I am thrilled with this book, as it truly succeeded in impressively showing the diversity of the event with its athletes and elegant skaters, as well as the emotions of the spectators. And of course it is a great memento of the fantastic new world record by Paul Tergat with the finish at Berlin’s most famous monument, the Brandenburg Gate".
The book is divided into 13 chapters, starting with the breakfast run and moving on to the BERLIN VITAL fair, the Pasta Lounge and the Bambini run, the inline skate marathon, the Fritz concert, MINI MARATHON, the wheelchair racers, and finally to the runners from 99 countries in the 30th real,- BERLIN MARATHON. The photos are rounded off with short texts in German and English, as well as numerous interviews that the publishing team had carried out on the side.
This book will enhance your memories, and it is certainly a good tip for a quality Christmas present--and it will get you motivated to participate next year. The book is available for 24.80 Euros directly in the souvenir shop of the real, - BERLIN-MARATHON at http://shop.berlin-marathon.de
The book is published by the Wessp Verlag and can also be purchased in bookstores under the number ISBN 3-934651-16-X.
