Five weeks before the 23rd Bewag BERLIN HALF MARATHON on April 6, 2003, the running boom continues, meaning a further onslaught on the spring classic organised by SCC-RUNNING. The 21.0975 km race for runners, inline skaters, wheelchair athletes and power walkers in April is becoming a "running magnet".With already 12,045 participants registered (on the same day a year ago: 8,349) for the half marathon distance through the city of Berlin, the "little brother" of the real,- BERLIN- MARATHON is becoming a serious and important competition for elite runners, as well as for recreational athletes. The top runners use the Bewag BERLIN HALF MARATHON as preparation and a form check for the big marathon races in the spring and summer.
Potential participants can register until February 28 for a reduced fee of 23.00 Euro; the fee goes up to 27.00 Euro on March 1.
For beginning runners, SCC-RUNNING offers a 4 km FUN RUN "Around the Berlin City Hall", and for the littlest runners (10 years old and younger) there will be a Bambini Run (approx. 800 m) on Saturday, April 5, 2003, to help develop the youth interested in running.
The large running trade fair with the race number distribution, pasta lounge, sport medicine services (with the symposium "Energy for Running") with lots of information on good health and with numerous booths from all areas of running will take place in large tents from Friday, April 4 until Sunday, April 6, 2003 on the parking lot in Alexanderstraße (at the race finish).
