Only 500 entries for skaters remaining

Entries for the skating competition are becoming scarce.

2002-04-29

Entries for the skating competition as part of the 29th real,- BERLIN-MARATHON, on 29 September 2002, are becoming scarce. Due to the high demand for race numbers, potential competitors are advised to speed their registrations: Only 500 race numbers are still available, which is why our online registration site will have to be closed very soon now.

With 6,105 inline skaters at the starting line in 2001, the real,- BERLIN-MARATHON has developed into the biggest skaters’ marathon in the world. For the coming edition the organizers will again limit the number of competitors, to a total of 6,000, in order to ensure a fair and safe competition for everybody.

The same as last year, all skaters will start from "An der Urania" street and join the runners’ marathon course at Siegessäule, about 2k into the race. The course will be exactly the same as last year when Arnaud Giquel (FRA) won the men’s race in 1:04:17, with Sheila Herrero (ESP) dominating the women’s competition in 1:12:57. The course record of 1:01:08 was set by Tristan Loy (FRA) in 1999, while the women’s record was set in 2000 by Angele Vaudan (FRA) who crossed the line in 1:08:29. The dream performance for an elite inline skater on this super-fast course would be to break the elusive 60-minute barrier.
